Monique is Account Manager at BAY Building Services, with 10 years’ experience in the assessment, quantification and resolution of claims. Monique is sociable, relationships driven, and passionate about providing free educational, networking and career advancement opportunities to the broader insurance industry. Monique founded the Claims Discussion Group (now the Vic Claims Discussion Group Inc.) in 2014 organising ad hoc events on topical issues and drawing on her network to share information in a collaborative way for the advancement of the insurance industry and insurance professionals within it. In 2016 she banded the current committee, and incorporated the group in the hopes of attracting further likeminded people together to give back to the community that we all so love. Monique is an outspoken advocate for women in leadership positions and in insurance generally.
Ken is Claims Relationship Manager with Vero (part of Suncorp) and has over 20 years of experience in the Banking and Insurance sector. Ken has held various relationship, operational and project roles with ANZ Bank across Corporate, SME, Retail and Private Banking segments. Having then moved across into Insurance, he has hands on and extensive experience in technical underwriting (home warranty insurance) and leading and managing teams of people and holds a Bachelor of Economics and an MBA.
Benjamin joined the TurksLegal Sydney office in April 2007 before moving to Melbourne in April 2012 to take up a senior position in the General Insurance practice group. He acts exclusively for insurers and SME providing advice on liability and indemnity across the spectrum of insurance products, policies and claims. His commercial and insightful approach to litigation provides insurers with efficient and timely resolution of claims where possible and robust representation where required in litigated disputes. Prior to joining TurksLegal, Benjamin built a reputation as a skilled litigation lawyer across a range of jurisdictions and areas of law including insurance litigation, personal and corporate insolvency, commercial debt recovery, building and construction disputes, criminal defence, family and taxation law. Benjamin was admitted to practice as a solicitor and barrister in 2005 to the Supreme Court of New South Wales and to the High Court of Australia
Mark has worked as a Chartered Loss Adjuster since 2002. In 2012 Mark founded liability and property loss adjusting firm Veritas Adjusting, servicing the Australian and London markets. Previously, Mark worked for specialist liability firms G Hughes and Associates and LKA Group, before joining Sportscover for three years as a property and liability claims manager. Mark is also a committee member of the Australian Institute of Chartered Loss Adjusters.
Norio is a forensic accountant and Senior Manager at Sedgwick, Forensic advisory services division. Norio has more than ten years of experience in forensic accounting and business valuations. Norio regularly assists insurers and lawyers in assessing business interruption losses, stock losses and fidelity / fraud losses. He also prepares expert witness reports in the area of economic loss assessments, financial investigations and business valuations which are used in commercial litigation and family law disputes. Norio holds a Bachelor of Commerce and is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and the CFA Institute.
Scott is a Senior Associate at Barry.Nilsson Lawyers. Scott provides results driven advice. He is commercially minded and technically sharp. His practice focuses on professional risks, particularly in the health sector. Scott has extensive advocacy experience having appeared in most courts and tribunals. He also has a deep understanding of the insurance industry and is actively involved in industry bodies.
Marini is a Principal at Gilchrist Connell, Melbourne. Marini is an experienced litigator with particular focus acting in the defence of professional indemnity claims, public & product liability, personal injury matters, risk management, policy and coverage advice. Marini’s practice involves acting in claims arising out of professional negligence and has appeared across all jurisdictions acting on behalf of financial professionals, building and construction, education, and real estate professionals. Marini’s practice also includes defending claims involving large scale public liability matters, building and construction disputes, strata disputes, catastrophic injury claims, psychiatric injury and Coronial proceedings. Marini holds a Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Laws (University of Melbourne) with a focus of advanced litigation and dispute resolution.
Mark is Recovery Director in Claims for Chubb Insurance, a position he has held since 2017. In his role, Mark is responsible for claim recovery for Asia Pacific, Europe and Latin America. Mark has worked in the insurance industry for over 20 years and has experience in areas including liability, property and travel claims. Mark holds a Bachelor of Economic and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from Monash University and is a registered legal practitioner.
